Union City Teen Center & Cafe

Union City Teen Center is a proposed intervention and conversion of a community center within the 21 acres of Charles F Kennedy park in Union City. Sculpted benches, outdoor cafe, dance and performance amphitheater and skateboard ramps activate the exterior use of the teen center while creating a strong programmatic connection and abundant educational resource from exterior to interior.

The Teen center will be retrofitted in two phases. Phase 1, starting construction in summer of 2016, proposes a new park integrated with storm water rain gardens and new entrance art wall. Phase 2 includes a new green roof with wild flowers for animals and insects, outdoor classroom, solar panels and overlook into the park with the Hayward Hills beyond.
